Hallo Philipp,

Regardless whether of what, where, who, I think it’s always important to treat the people, and the environment around you with care and respect. And that is reflected in my way of living! While I don’t know houseplants so well… I certainly know how to follow instruction, and would treat them like my own pets :) As for the rest of the apartment, well, I would have my partner around sometimes, and somehow she is even tidier than I am! I think your landlady will like me. I’m not staying up late to drink and party, and lead an active, outside life.

In terms of financial security. Paying rent will not be a problem - I can provide bank statements from New Zealand. Actually I took this minimum wage role in a fancy hotel, mainly because it forces me to learn and use the german language quickly, and this is the most important thing for me if I am going to have a future in this country.

You could learn more about me, and also read what other people have written about me, here. https://kauri.sbs/flatshare-advertisement-de

Actually, I will be honest and say the price is a bit expensive compared to what I am looking for, considering that I am not bringing my furnishings from New Zealand. However I wanted to write to you anyway, because I really liked your style of communication, and get the sense we would be quite compatible. I got the sense you are just moving into the building yourself, are you also the landlord? Either way, I’d be excited tp help make it feel like home.

In terms of tidyness and consideration, well, you should read what other people write about me here: www.kauri.sbs/flatshare-advertisement-de You can also learn a bit more about me there. Naturally I’m not moving to Munich just to sit in my room in the evenings.

In terms of financial security. Paying rent will not be a problem. I have attached for you just two bank and asset statements from New Zealand ($1 NZD = € 0.55). Actually I took this minimum wage role in a fancy hotel, mainly because it forces me to learn and use the german language quickly, and this is the most important thing for me if I am going to have a future in this country.

I recently had a transient experience in a hostel that has inspired me to pursue a permanent role in hospitality. I have not formally listed it on my resume; since I was only supposed to be passing through the city I only stayed a couple months. Busy days were running around; cleaning dishes, changing bed sheets and laundry, and with a big smile showing guests around the property and entertaining them with our craft beer. Within a week I learnt Tirana’s chaotic public transportation system, to better help the guests with their travel plans. (And I already know Munich reasonably well!) I also trained all the new staff who came through. In those short months the work left a big impact on me.

As a structural engineer I designed a wide variety of buildings, with strong technical skills. However my biggest satisfaction came from managing people and projects, where I enjoyed building relationships with a wide range of people, and resulting client satisfaction. That is another reason I am interested in a people-focussed role.

As a structural engineer I exercised strong technical skills, designing a range of residential and commercial buildings. However my biggest satisfaction came from managing people and projects, where I enjoyed building relationships with a wide range of people; architects, contractors, and other engineers, operating with a focus on client satisfaction.

I will be available from January and looking to settle for the foreseeable future in Munich. I may be interested in a full-time role with you; please reach out if there would be a suitable opportunity 🙂

I applied for the Service and Reception role because I love a busy, varied, people-focussed role. You will find I learn rather quickly and am able to adapt my strong problem-solving skills to new situations. While my German language skills are developing I may also consider the possibility to work in other roles too.

Cheers,

Hi Christina Wagner,

On hindsight, I thought I should add a bit more about how I’ll fit into your team :)

Hitchhiking has been a huge part of my travels. In fact, it’s been one of the most impactful methods for teaching myself German! It’s really a unique way to travel, but it takes some real mental fortitude, to stand there and smile at people passing by. I know it’s not so common here in Germany, so when somebody picks me up, I almost feel a responsibility to leave them with a beautiful experience that they can carry with them into the future. It’s great, because you get this transient experience with a stranger from a completely different walk of life. I don’t have to hitchhike; I have the 49€ ticket. I do it because I get satisfaction out of making people smile. I’m excited to bring that positive energy to your team :) Oh, and I write over at www.kauri.sbs Cheers, Kauri

Though I have not completed a formal hotel training, I hope you will find I tick the rest of the boxes, and more! I have a good handle on computer systems, and intuitively understand how to navigate booking systems and online travel agency systems. I have a structured, organised approach to work. I hope I can inspire your staff, too… I do have some stories from my travels to tell! (Sometimes I publish them over at www.kauri.sbs)

Cocoon Hotel looks like a fantastic place where I can be part of a unique, passionate team, to kickstart a career in the hospitality industry. I discovered your hotel because of it’s name - and your values really resonate; the sort of values I’d be proud to represent.

Though I worked in Engineering, you will find my strong professional and personal skills, with learning-driven approach will ensure a simple transition into hospitality. With strong skills in people and project management, I am looking for a place with future opportunity to develop.

I do have some strong motivations for moving to Munich, and for pursuing a career change, which I would be pleased to share with you over a meeting.I understand the German language matter may be challenging at first, so I am not applying for a specific role - but I would be open to hearing if you have any possibilities. I’d love to chat with you; I think you will like my motivations and experience!

Cheers,

Kauri Beckmann

broad and transferrable, and I pick up new systems One of my biggest interests is making people smile and feel comfortable, and so I would be pursuing a customer-facing role. I understand that is not necessarily immediately possible, so I am not applying for a specific role - but I would be open to hearing about opportunities.

I noticed you ask not for a letter of motivation… so I will just say now, I do have some strong motivations for moving to Munich, and Grefis Hotel looks like a fantastic place to kickstart a career in the hospitality industry :)

“…not only is he super easy going with an open attitude, it’s also nice to experience this usualy hippyish character mixed with an settled and forward oriented way of living.” “Kauri is that kind of guy which you meet for the first time and you feel like you have been friends for ever… easy going, interested in German culture and language, clean and helpful.” https://www.bewelcome.org/members/Kauri/de

My former flatmates will also testify that I am… tidy and organised laid-back but proactive calm and diplomatic active and adventurous (weekend out in the Alps, anyone?) that I cook big, healthy meals often, and clean my dishes while cooking! (Contact details available upon request.)

I spent three months hitchhiking around Bavaria, and for many reasons I chose Munich as the place to settle to begin the next stage of life. The beer, the culture, the people, not least of all for my beautiful German girlfriend.

Hitchhiking has been a huge part of my travels. In fact, it’s been one of the most impactful methods for teaching myself German! I do it because I get satisfaction out of making people smile.

I have job in a fancy hotel beginning in January, so I can practice using the language daily. Money will not be a problem; I can also provide bank statements as evidence.
